Benefit Concert for Skip and Joyce Hughes
Early in December Skip's home in Pawling New York burned to the ground. Although no one was hurt, almost everything in the house was destroyed. To add to the burden, Skip's wife has been fighting cancer for about 10 years. She had just finished two weeks at Yale New Haven Hospital undergoing yet another operation, and was in rehab when the fire occurred. They do have insurance to cover most of the reconstruction and replacement costs, but they can use a little help with every day living expenses.
On March 13 (2010) the Heartbeat Jazz Band gave a benefit concert at the
First Church of Christ, 190 Court Street in Middletown,
CT. The band for this occasion included Fred Vigorito, Noel Kaletsky,
Dr. John Clark, Skip Hughes himself, Charlie Freeman, Gim Burton, Art Hovey, Bill Logozzo, and vocalist
Diane Mower.
The concert was recorded in both audio and video by 1080 Sounds, Connecticut's premiere outfit for on-site recording.
